Yeah, man. Like the neighbor said all he needed was a cape.

Awesome!!! It could have ended badly, but luckily it didn't. Also, it is a good thing that Davidson wasn't a predator that would have just taken the kids and got rid of them.

Congratulations Mr Furlong!

PS:

My neighborhood starts to sound like that one. I need to make myself a cape! ;D

PPS:

"It's spurred the neighborhood to get a bit more organized,"

That's all is needed of residents to get rid of crime: get organized. Of course, vigilantism is not always good, but sometimes you gotta step up. However, it is not easy to do get everybody to take risks unless the danger get out of hand.

"It may cause us to move. We've put money into this neighborhood and into this house, and I don't want to be driven away by fear. But we're definitely on heightened alert."
Yeah, I can relate to that.

In my neighborhood, we aren't organized into a crime watch program or anything like that, but we all know each other. Our kids play together, we talk in the sidewalks, we lend our backs to move heavy furniture, we watch each others' houses when we go on vacation, and every year we close the street and have a block party.

I think that neighborliness is the basis that would propel anyone of us into action to help any other neighbors in need.
