Question for Obama supporters

Postby Dmitri on Wed Oct 29, 2008 4:16 pm

Serious question, just out of morbid curiosity:

Do you think Obama would be a better president than Nader? (I.e. if magically Rep. party would disappear and the two most popular "competing" candidates were Obama and Nader, would you still vote for Obama?)

If so, then why?

Thanks.

Obama all the way - after seeing Nader growing up as a young padawan, falling in love with Had'mei and then turning to the dark side of the force out of jealousy and teen angst ... I'm hoping Obama gets it.

Are you seriously asking someone why he's voting for his second choice?
I'm not sure how to quantify a "good" president. But, I'm not sure of Nader's stand on most issues.
Anyway, a friend told me yesterday that his father would be writing in Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately, he has no possiblility of being elected.
But, why ask whether Nader is preferable to Obama? Isn't he also preferable to McCain? or Ron Paul? So, if it were a choice between Nader and Paul, which one would be a better president?

Yes. Obama would be a better president than Nader.

Nader is old and irrelevant and only runs for president because he's run out of productive hobbies.

Personally, I like Obama for non conventional reasons.

Aside from his policy, What I like about Obama the MOST is his level of intelligence, and emotional make-up.

I like the fact that he's EXTREMELY observant. He can analze things very well and very deeply;
Obama's ability to use Grand Strategy, and his ability to bring people together are an extremely powerfull combination.

Couple that with his ability to convince people in a manner that makes them want to posess him, and I've got my pick.

It's my belief that Obama will make great strides on the international front over the course of the next 4 years, and I believe he will also

NOT just cave into democratic party line-

I believe that he will become a unifier of Gov't and will assist Conservatives as well as Dems, and because he's so psycologically adept, I believe he'll be an effective mediator between many parties, and Many Government leaders will love him.

I believe that Obama has the skill set necissary to return the United States to global leadership.

We need that really badly right now.

Nader doesn't really do that for me personally.

A president not only has to have good policies, good advisors, and make good decisions, he also has to have the charisma to inspire people to follow him, and make people listen to him. Nader does not inspire me at all--he really can't make speeches. and he frankly doesn't have the aura--the qi-shi-- of a leader. like ron paul, I like a lot of his policies, but I can't see either of them treating with foreign heads of state. plus I like how obama makes decisions by considering other peoples' opinions and trying to make a win-win situation. this is vitally important for any negotiation, however small or large.

Obama's the fucking man. Clinton's the only president in my life that ever gave me the same feeling of calm confidence. except I feel that obama is more honest and has more integrity than clinton even. While hillary stooped to smear tactics and was constantly attacking obama's character, obama took the high road. That is the type of man I want for president. I think he'll be better than clinton was.

If you're actually asking me, -- Paul, but he's not running anymore. (Although he's on the official ballot in Montana anyway. Good for them, there's how you send a message to the damn establishment!)

Nader was a good man, but his time has long past.

I liked his overall anti-corporation stance, if I remember correctly. But, today, sadly, he comes off no better than McCain does. Nader was recently on the Bill Maher's show (on HBO) a couple of weeks ago, and he was really out of it; he came off like an old angry man with no vision for the future. He's still a good man, but I believe he's grown bitter.

Nader could never campaign against Obama, nor would he get many votes imho. Obama has way too much intelligence, oratory skills, and overall inspirational and motivating vision to compete with.

to me, in a word- Charisma.

why did we get all crazy about the moon after the USSR launched Sputnik? we were all down in the dumps and the Soviets were laughing at us. what got us pumped up? why did we get nuts and do something crazy and (then) impossible by technology standards of that day?

Kennedy. he sold it to us. we (USA) bought it. then we did it.

it became a huge triumph for the USA. this was a huge blow in the cold war.

my 2c.

McCain might be a great guy. i don't know. i can't tell. but Obama could sell an ketchup ice-cream cone to a girl in a white wedding dress. we need some of that.

Whoever's more Antichrist-ish. We haven't had a really good stirring of that issue in a long time.

Obama clearly has excellent NLP skills, it's the only way to account for so many people looking past his paper-thin experience, socialist/marxist leanings, and radical affiliations; he just projects confidence and authority, while he redirects and misdirects criticism. Pretty amazing.

socialist/marxist leanings? isn't that "McCain-speak" for "he wants to tax the people that can afford it more than the people who can't afford it" ?

what next? socialized medical coverage like the rest of us? That means the large corporations have lost and can no longer bill you out the yin-yang for medical services that should be available to everyone. My wife and I had a baby this year. Cost of clinic visits, ultrasounds, blood sugar tests, iron tests, 3 days in the hospital with a semi private room - $0.00 - Yea, I'll take a leader who believes in socialism on certain issues than "go f*** yourself, you don't have insurance". That's a 3rd world medical system.

No I think my friend Duane is the Anti-Christ.

We went on the road with a group called Agents Of Man (friends I grew up with) and we ended up in V.A. one night.

We stayed at some girls house- got there at like 4 a.m. and then just crashed. Didn't see anyone- they were all sleeping.

So in the morning, ( mid afternoon) we come down stairs and ewe're like "Where's Duane?"

We're all standing around outside, and the families there, and her fathers chopping wood or some shit, and all the sudden Duane and the Girl come down stairs- the girls got crazy sex bedhead, and Duane's naked,Dreds hanging, only wearing white bedsheets wrapped around him like a toga.

He looks around and goes "yo, wassup" to the Father- the Dad just looks at him in disbelief,

and from that point on we all started calling him Black Jesus. ;D
