Santorum is Catholic but that doesn't mean all of his positions are 'Catholic'. His criticism of evolution is not 'Catholic', and he has the right to his own oppinions.

Sure - he can think what he likes. Sorry, I guess I mis-phrased the question - I was wondering if his criticism of evolution is shared with American Catholics in general or not (for example, do you think he is alienating US Catholics, or just agreeing with them?).

Um, I don't really keep up with which politician belongs to which religious group, but I do keep a mental note of which advocate of free speech is against the Pope having that "right." It's just an easy way to tell who truly believes in what.

I read on FB today that the Pope has been awarded an honorary TKD black belt.

The Pope is an extraordinary fellow. Afa his bona fides to discuss things like saving the earth and helping the poor, I think there's no place in the Bible of scriptures that says different. When he talks about those things, imo, he is minding his own business. What makes politicians and businessmen think they're qualified to discuss those issues? Let alone tell scientists or religious people what to discuss?

I really like Pope Francis. I think he is a great example for religion around the world - good, humble, pious.

Interesting how eighty percent of everything else the Pope says the GOP would probably agree with but since they disagree on one issue they throw him under the bus.
