Wow, I can't believe the result of this fight, complete opposite of what I expected.

Thoughts?

the odds were actually right. getting "caught" by a hand the size of a ham with 270 lbs behind it? wtf. who could absorb that. not mir, not herring, not couture, not nog, not fedor.

I agree that the odds were about right. But, the object is always not to get hit. Any of the guys mentioned could knock Lesnar out, too. It's just like Clay/Liston, except Lesnar is stronger and probably faster than Liston was. Mir couldn't trade with him, but he beat him with a leg/ankle lock. One thing's for sure; the big guy's stock just went up big time. Nogueira or Mir will probably be next, no?

What amazed me is how freakishly big Lesnar is. Couture is a pretty big guy, but next to Lesnar he looks small.

UFC is bound to breed these giant Lesnar-like creatures and eventually turn into a version of WWF, just with more "reality" rules in it.

Randy rules anyway. 8-) Guess where this fight would go if they were a bit better matched in weight/size...

That would be LEGEN (wait for it) DARY!!!

Should Lesnar continue with this kind of success Dana White may want to rethink this ways when it comes to making fights with non-UFC fighters. If there is no one left to beat and no big money draw to make on future fights, the UFC will almost become too successful for itself and have to make a deal with someone else to make fights.

As for big people winning fights, what's wrong with that? They're heavy weights. Considering how fast Brock can move, I hardly see him as the lumbering WWE type heavy weights of UFC's early days.

Well, Lesnar was champ in the WWE for a while. I'd bet he could have made more money there, without taking as much risk, if he had wanted. The guy can't help if he's big. Somebody's always going to be, anyway, and big guys can always be beat by better technicians. Otoh, Lesnar is still really just a kid and has just started getting up to speed in mma. Suppose, for ex., he gets serious about getting ranked in bjj.
