Ironically, the highest percentage of foreign criminals in UK jails are from Poland - perhaps that magazine could do a cover about that?

Yeah, and we can learn from the pattern that Poles are actually no more predisposed to rape than Englishmen. It's predictable.

really thats what you feel? good to know.

According to a new study from the Crime Prevention Council, Brå, it is four times more likely that a known rapist is born abroad, compared to persons born in Sweden. Resident aliens from Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia dominate the group of rape suspects. According to these statistics, almost half of all perpetrators are immigrants.

In Norway and Denmark, we know that non-Western immigrants, which frequently means Muslims, are grossly overrepresented on rape statistics. In Oslo, Norway, immigrants were involved in two out of three rape charges in 2001.

The numbers in Denmark were the same, and even higher in the city of Copenhagen with three out of four rape charges. Sweden has a larger immigrant, including Muslim, population than any other country in northern Europe.

The numbers there are likely to be at least as bad as with its Scandinavian neighbors. The actual number is thus probably even higher than what the authorities are reporting now, as it doesn’t include second generation immigrants. Lawyer Ann Christine Hjelm, who has investigated violent crimes in Svea high court, found that 85 per cent of the convicted rapists were born on foreign soil or by foreign parents.

Re: "should be easy to debunk this." Actually, it is. First: take a paragraph, such as

Drop it in google and then do the traditional who, what, when and where forensics. For example, note if the article comes from a journal, book, or from a conventional news source. When did the article first appear? For ex., it comes up in 2005, 2007, 2009, etc.. So, at any rate, it can't claim to be a "new study." And, of course, we don't know what or who the "Crime prevention council" is.

In terms of the passage itself, it bears careful reading. It argues that "a known rapist" is more likely to have been born abroad. One wonders why he didn't simply say "convicted rapist" or just "rapists." But, then he goes on to say that "resident aliens from" some specific areas "dominate the group of rape Suspects." Hmm, suspects, but he doesn't say "convicts."

Anyway, then comes sentence three: "almost half of the perpetrators are immigrants." Well, of course that means that more than half are not immigrants. But, waitaminit, what does "four times more likely" mean in this context? I'm too lazy to do the math.

Well, this is how I tell students to analyze what they find on the internet ... because they will fall for anything.

Edit: So, I can't help it. I like to get to the bottom of stuff. I was curious about the Crime Prevention Council, and I looked it up. I'll post a direct link, but given what I've written previously about information. Here's from their latest conclusion.

Reported offences
In 2015, a total of 18,100 sex offences were reported; this is an 11 per cent decrease as compared with 2014. The number of rapes reported to police decreased by 12 per cent to 5,920 between 2014 and 2015. Reported offences regarding sexual molestation and sexual coercion, exploitation etc. also decreased to 8,840 (-8 %) and 1,430 (-6 %) respectively. The decrease seen in these types of offences was in turn preceeded by a rise in 2014. This can in part be explained by a number of cases that included a great many connected offences relating to rape, sexual molestation, sexual cohersion and exploitation.

Some statistics on rape, for some reason Pakistan was omitted[Wikipedia shows it, and several other countries are up there, maybe they were trying to make a point about this being a worldwide problem
10 Countries With Highest Rape Crime
Joachim Greifswald 10 Countries With Highest Rape Crime, 10 Countries With Maximum Rape Crimes, domestic violence, rape, Highest Rape Rate in the World
“One woman in 20 (5 %) has been raped since the age of 15, either by a partner or by someone else. Thinking about all women aged 18 to 74 years in the 28 EU Member States, this corresponds to more than 9 million women who have been raped since they were 15 years old, either by a partner or another person. Furthermore, according to the survey, 0.8 % of women (aged 18–74 years) have been raped in the past 12 months, which corresponds to some 1.5 million women being raped in the EU in one year.” states Violence against women: an EU-wide survey
We have listed down 10 countries with highest rape crime in the world. The data has been heavily researched and collected from various sources and research papers. The article includes sources to all the statistics used. Please feel free to write us if you would like to share more knowledge about this heinous crime. We would appreciate that.
10. Denmark & Finland
According to NORDIC report : Reported offences per 100,000 of the population were 429 in Denmark,
Around 500 rapes are reported to the Danish police annually. Studies reveal that only a small minority of all rapes are actually reported. According to a 2014 study published by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, Denmark had the highest prevalence rate of physical and sexual violence against women in Europe.
Amnesty International criticized Denamrk for inadequate laws in regard to sexual violence in a 2008 report.
Sexual offences (Danish: Seksualforbrydelser) are defined in the Danish Penal Code, Chapter 24, Section 216-236. References in legislation to marriage were removed following the 2013 amendment (previously providing for a reduced sentence or a pardon), and sexual acts performed on victims in a helpless state now also count as rape.[82]
In 1999, Denmark established its first rape crisis centre.
9. Zimbabwe
According to latest statistics supplied by the Zimbabwe National Statistics Office (ZimStat) at least 15 women are raped daily in the country.
The ZimStat report, titled Quarterly Digest of Statistics, says 2 195 cases of rape were reported in the first five months of 2012. 1 610 cases of indecent assault were recorded in 2011, with 2 484 and 1 124 in 2010 and 2009 respectively. Anele Ndebele of the Matabeleland Aids Council said the statistics were a cause for concern as it invariably meant there was an increase in the transmission of HIV.
8. Australia
According to news.com.au “Most instances of rape happen behind closed doors, with no witnesses.”
The laws relating to rape have been evolved from the English common law offense of rape in Australia. These laws have gradually changed, especially in the late 20th century.
In Australia the reported rape rate per 100,000 people is relatively high. It came down from 91.6 in the year 2003 to 28.6 (100,000) in 2010.
During the 12 months prior to interview in 2011–12, an estimated 51,200 (0.3%) Australians aged 18 years and over were a victim of sexual assault.
According to NEWS.COM.AU One in six women a victim. AUSTRALIAN women are being sexually assaulted at twice the rate of women worldwide.
7. Canada
According to Statistics Canada, women self-reported 472,000 sexual assaults in 2009 in Canada. A survey on sexual violence was conducted by Statistics Canada in 1992, which involved a national random sample of 12,300 women (Johnson and Sacco, 1995). The findings of the research showed that over one in three women had experienced a sexual assault out of which 6% of sexual assaults were reported to the police.
6. New Zealand
New Zealand is famous for his breathtaking landscapes, which got captured in many movies including the “Lord of the Rings“-trilogy. But the country is also in the list with the most rapes in the world. In 2013 a group called “Road Busters” became “famous” for gang-raping girls, they met on the internet. They not even gang-raped the underages girls who also got inbriated by the young men, but also showed the videos on the internet. According to an article from the New Zealand Herald in 2012 the crime rate in the country decreased, while the reports of sexual abuses increased up to 15 % (and doubled in schools).
5. India
Indian is worldwide “famous” for the many reports about (gang)rapes, in which most of the victims also got killed. But why is Indian not on first place, if the reports are true? Because mostly they are exaggerated by the (British) media. Statistically seen there are 2 rapes per 100000 inhabitants in India, but almost 29 rapes per 100000 inhabitants in Great Britain. British media would now maybe say that this has to do with the many Indians living there. But due to a probable huge amount of unknown cases, many newspapers like to report, that Indian is (after Afghanistan) the most dangerous country to women and girls. Why? There are several reasons. One is most likely the patriarchal structure in which the man thinks he is able to do everything and a woman is not more worth than her uterus.
4. England & Wales
Its hard to find official statistics about rape cases in England and Wales. That”s why we sometimes have to trust reports from the police and newspapers. According to an article from “The Guardian“ in 2015, the number of rapes in England and Wales have risen by 31 % to 24000 victims in only one year. Due to the newspaper, the increase stays in relation to the greater willingness by the victims to go to the police.
Like in almost every country its very dangerous for a woman to travel alone in a taxi. But in Great Britain and Wales the numbers of sexual abuses in taxis seem very high and many cases don’t even get reported. At least 1225 cases got officially reported by the police in England and Wales, which include sexual abuse and rape by a taxidriver. This makes 22 sexual abuses per week only in London. What can someone do to avoid driving alone in a taxi? Sam Mason, a British radio and television presenter once called a taxi company and asked for a female, non-Asian driver for her young daughter. After that she got fired by her employer, the BBC, because of her so-called “racist views“.
3. USA
Like in almost every other country, the majority of the actual rapes are unreported. Due to an amount of cases of rapes in US universities, there have been several debates about allowing people to carry weapons in their bags, when they go to campus. A girl from Harvard University vent her spleen by a letter, written in March 2014, in which she says that she was a victim of sexual harassment and the HU doesn’t support her in any way. No matter what, sexual frustrated fellow students show, that even in an American elite society, the women can’t feel safe.
Read Letter from girl (Harvard University): http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2014/ ... lt/?page=1 . Read Harvard University Sexual and Gender-Based Harassment Policy: Here
2. Sweden
Sweden is the “rape-metropolis” of the west. The even worse thing is that in many cases, the rapist gets acquitted. But if now some people think that the majority of the rapists are Swedish, they lie wrong. The media likes to hide the fact, that in many cases the offender or better the offenders is/ are from Somalia. Some sources say that in 1975 the number of rapes in the prior “closed” country increased up to 1472 %. Why? Some sources suppose to know the reason and say that in this year, the Swedish parliament decided to make Sweden multicultural. The “result” is that in 1975, 421 cases got officially reported, and 6620 in the year 2011.
1. South Africa
South Africa has a sad but true world record: statistically every 9-10 minutes a young girl, a grown up woman or an old lady gets raped. In some regions, the male dominating role is so significant, that every fourth woman got at least once in her life forced to sex. Studies exist in which 30 % of the South African men admitted, that they first sexual experienced was based on a rape.
Due to official reports, every year 55000 girls and women get raped in South Africa, but these are only the official records. A study from Neil Andersson and Ari Ho-Foster revealed that 40 % of all schoolgirls have already been raped. In the study, 20 % said that a teacher sexually abused them and another 28 % got violated by their own classmates.
So what is the reason behind the huge amount of rapes every year and every day in this country? Many men think they behave legitimate and that women have to follow their rules. But these are only two of many other reasons. Another main reason is lack of education: some teenagers in South Africa don’t even know what actually a rape is.
Some Countries Where Marital Rape is Not Explicitly Outlawed:

Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Spain.
ASIA:
Indonesia, Myanmar, Nauru, PNG, Samoa, Singapore, Japan
SOUTH ASIA:
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan
LATIN AMERICA/CARIBBEAN:
Belize, Ecuador, Jamaica, Panama, Uruguay.
MIDDLE EAST:
None explicitly outlaw marital rape
AFRICA:

The thing is... that Sweden has the highest percentage of reported rapes in the world. In many countries for various reasons don't report rapes. Swedish women are not afraid of reporting rapes and these women get far more support than women in most countries in the world. What the statistic says is that women has rights and know how to claim their rights. The downside with Swedish laws is that few get convicted and those sentenced get away too easy.

True - though also the definition of rape in Swedish law seems to include all types of sexual assault. Some interesting info here

Historically in the UK, it's been a shocking statistic for decades that a huge percentage of sex attacks have gone unreported or, when reported have been ignored

A quote from the article that I think applies to this discussion:

Because people who go to Sweden are poorer, and crime rates are mostly a product not of ethnicity but of class.

This is why it is better to look at social problems in terms of economics, class and jobs than in terms of ethnicity, color and immigration status. The problem of poverty can be theoretically solved or greatly reduced and those efforts will certainly reduce crime and probably benefit everyone, whereas trying to focus on certain ethnicities is a big can of worms with no proven benefit, just the opposite.

The section on Sweden that Ken cites seems more like an opinion piece than a statement of known facts. The writing is suspicious.

Afa rape, the fact is that it's a man problem. The only difference is how the society handles it. In most societies, women who are raped are either shamed, ashamed or disbelieved. So, they don't report.

Actually, I don't know if it's even a class issue. Of course, people from lower classes might be more frustrated have more issues with alcohol and unemployment etc. But there are a lot more middle class and lower class people in Sweden than rich people. From a statistics POV it would be odd if the most rapists were not from lower classes. From a Swedish perspective I think it's also about something else.... But I have a hard time verbalizing my thoughts right now. Later.
