Are you saying that the British Empire did not have a racial justification in its conquest of others?

:) Ruddy Rudyard Kipling had a poem and phrase for it;

The White Man's Burden: The United States and The Philippine Islands (1899)
Take up the White Man's burden, Send forth the best ye breed
Go bind your sons to exile, to serve your captives' need;
To wait in heavy harness, On fluttered folk and wild—
Your new-caught, sullen peoples, Half-devil and half-child.

Take up the White Man's burden, In patience to abide,
To veil the threat of terror And check the show of pride;
By open speech and simple, An hundred times made plain
To seek another's profit, And work another's gain.

Take up the White Man's burden, The savage wars of peace—
Fill full the mouth of Famine And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest The end for others sought,
Watch sloth and heathen Folly Bring all your hopes to nought.

Take up the White Man's burden, No tawdry rule of kings,
But toil of serf and sweeper, The tale of common things.
The ports ye shall not enter, The roads ye shall not tread,
Go make them with your living, And mark them with your dead.

Take up the White Man's burden And reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better, The hate of those ye guard—
The cry of hosts ye humour (Ah, slowly!) toward the light:—
"Why brought he us from bondage, Our loved Egyptian night?"

Take up the White Man's burden, Ye dare not stoop to less—
Nor call too loud on Freedom To cloak your weariness;
By all ye cry or whisper, By all ye leave or do,
The silent, sullen peoples Shall weigh your gods and you.

Take up the White Man's burden, Have done with childish days—
The lightly proferred laurel, The easy, ungrudged praise.
Comes now, to search your manhood, through all the thankless years
Cold, edged with dear-bought wisdom, The judgment of your peers!

This thread is on its 10th page. Homo Sapiens is the race. One human race. It's that simple.

We all had one common ancestor and it was a fish. Do you want proof? It its called evolution.

Yes, those parts were particularly surreal :D

A lot of people probably don't think about what's under the skin in an anatomical or medical sense, we've seen skinned knees, that's enough common knowledge, but I think she was curious and surprised. It's interesting, kind of like the first time Bones McCoy sees Mister Spock's green blood and says, "What do you expect from me, Jim? I'm a doctor, not a miracle worker and that damned Vulcan has green blood!" ;) Excuse the 60's Star Trek reference if it is too aged now.

One of the problems with the "colloquial" view when applied to gov't forms. It's a pretty cool page from the Dallasnews.

not really.

One could pick many other cultures and
find the same things or thoughts held.

Do a a study of the Japaneses culture
and you might find a couple of physical things they
felt where different about them then people
from other cultures.

I think if everyone in the world was the same colour we would still find reasons to discriminate against one another. It's just the way we are. We love to separate and align ourselves from others to try strengthen our social position or give ourselves the feeling we are superior in one way or another. I imagine it started of as survival but is now more ego driven.

That's true, but it doesn't have anything to do with the concept of different human races. Europeans, who here people would say were all White, have been the best at killing each other. Way better than anyone else, ever. And, it's always been that way. After all, the first recorded murder was by one brother of another.

Secondly, "discrimination" is fine. It's part of natural selection. It's not uncommon, or even unusual, to find members of different "races" being attracted to and mating with each other. Those unions produce offspring. It's up to the "racialists" to argue which "race" to which those offspring belong. If those offspring marry members of another race, the problem is only complicated. There's still discrimination.

However, what Americans often mean by discrimination is the way "White" people in this country, specifically, have discriminated/treated Black and other people. In fact, some form of that treatment will continue --especially if today we just tried to change applications and census reports. Some people will always feel that they are better than other people. That's for sure. Still, if they argue their superiority based on their "race," then they're just being foolish if they think that anyone else has to agree or comply with their belief. That's even if they created and fixed the category, and then made it illegal for "races" to inter-marry. Those laws were in place 50 years ago. That's a blink in the lifetime of this nation.

We know that the above form of discrimination is "bad" because many White people --often Trump supporters-- would argue that White people are being discriminated against. That's especially unemployed, under-educated and poor and rural White people. I'm not making that up. Some have told me so quite directly, and they won't hear different.

:) Exactly. Do you think that they were rioting because of their race? I.e., because they are Black? That's what people would call racism. Not that you are outraged by the rioting, loss of property, etc.; but that you attribute it to their race --as if most Black people riot. But, ok, to what do you attribute this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q3Tg0GDQn0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhT58weo8-4

Would you say they had a reason to riot? Or do you think it's just the way White youth act when they're dissatisfied? Is it race?

And, look at current events? Look at you.
