There are some days were I have to force myself not to train, because I feel my CNS (Central Nervous System) and muscles need a dire recovery. Thankfully someone had the great idea of active recovery. The main purpose of this practice is to

activate the parasympathetic nervous system
minimize unnecessary tension
reduce cortisol (therefore strengthening the immune system)
support muscle repair and super-compensation
improve my energy levels (and therefore my mood)

I alternate between three different methods depending on how I feel, what I want to work on and how much time I have.
