Bob Dylan Nobel Laureate

This is a bold choice and will brought out mixed reactions. Personally I think it is justified but others may think otherwise

"for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition"

... So he received the price for his contribution to music... :-\

I mean, sure he is good. But if not even the Noble Price jury can come up with anything about how he actually contributed to litterature, he really doesn't deserve the Noble price in literature.

I guess the Nobel folks consider lyrics to be poetry and therefore literature. He's had at least as much impact culturally as Robert Frost.
The form is the notes, the quan is the music

Just listen to the lyrics of "Tangled up in Blue" and you'll know.

Lyrics are poetry. Poetry is literature.

Well apperently there are some books written by him, don't know if they are any good, but then i'm more of a crime novel reader so i guess i will never know.

But it doesn't matter if he is a good or bad poet or writes bad novels. He got it because what he did for music. The quality of poetic had no part of why he got it. Literature had no part of it. He got it because of what he did for music. That's like giving a professor in medicin a price in economics for something he did for medicin. It doesn't make sense...

Nope,
I disagree.
His music is ok, hoverer I wasn`t big fan of his productions, /just hear Hendrix cover/
but
it lyrics made his art outstanding, and worth the price ,
music helped him sell out his poetry... :)
anyway,
Nobel Price is discovering the new field -toast-
