Yup, I've seen the trailer. Surface only, not even the smallest little thing that make me feel that there is something of value behind the surface.

.... This movie will suck big time. I am 100% positively sure about this.

I actually have more hopes for 'Valerian' than the GITS film...

That being said I'm sure they'll do a good job of putting Scarlett Johansson through a bunch of big violent set pieces that will rival Uma Thurman in Kill Bill

`cause
from quite some time filmmakers go easy way, and just films comics books, bringing 2D drawings /which are pieces of art sometimes/ to the movin`3D maze of special effects .
No invention at all- , everything in computer generated effect -there are real contemporary filmmakers-behind the keyboards...

No, I think the problem today is that "there are real contemporary filmmakers [are] behind the keyboards". The filmmakers don't know how to take control of the technique. They let the visual designers, digital programmers and technicians take charge of the direction. Just look at Tintin, two great filmmakers together and they made absolutely crap, something that is badly directed and a disaster of cinematography and editing. Not even George Lucas could handle it. The only one I can think about who understand technology today is James Cameron. Of course, there are others who are smart enough to refuse it. If you don't have 100% control of what you are doing, you shouldn't do it. It's just simple as that.

I'd expect a modicum more substance than zero just because the original was fairly weighty.

AFA Kill Bill what substance did it have other than Quentin Tarantino paying homage to his favourite movies? I've only watched it once but thought it mainly a self-conscious pastiche homage film using elements that had been put into other action films before.

I loved the Judge Dredd comics. A lot of substance in those. What substance had the movie except zero?

What substance the original manga/animé GitS had has absolutely nothing to do with what the filmmakers want to show on the screen.

I have no idea how this upcoming shit has anything to do with Kill Bill. But those two movies had a lot of juvenile rage and some tiny traces of philosophical thoughts. = More substance than at least 98% of every comic or any superhero movie until this date.

A comparison anime - movie.

... Still only about surface... Not why the anime/manga became so popular.
