Frankly I think that street riot was staged. Conveniently placed limo and reporters. Having lived there that was far too much restraint by the DC PD to not have been staged. Also this commentator is obsessed with communism. Also since when did the libertarians come from the Tea Party'- they've been around far longer... ???

It’s Bullshit To Equate The Liberal Reaction to Trump’s Win with the Conservative Reaction to Obama’s in 2008

Since Donald Trump’s fairly unexpected victory over Hillary Clinton, there’s been an interesting show of hypocrisy by people on both the left and the right. While some liberals have claimed that Trump’s “not their president” (sorry, folks, he is), many of the same conservatives who showed President Obama absolutely no respect over the last eight years have been “offended” at the lack of respect many progressives have displayed toward their candidate.

Naturally, this hypocrisy has led some to compare the progressive reaction this year to how conservatives handled 2008’s election of President Obama.

Sorry, but the two do not remotely compare.

While I don’t buy into the liberal “he’s not my president thing” (again, he won — end of story), saying that their negative reaction to Trump’s win is the same as the conservative reaction to Obama’s in 2008 is bullshit.

When conservatives freaked the hell out after Barack Obama was first elected (and really throughout the entire eight year hissy fit that’s followed), they “feared” him for things that weren’t true. Republicans were sold a long-list of ridiculous conspiracy theories and most bought nearly every damn one of them.

Since his election and over the past eight years conservatives were told he is/was:

Not an American citizen.
Living under an alias.
A secret Muslim.
Working with the Muslim Brotherhood.
Never went to Harvard or Columbia since none of his classmates recalled him being there.
Ordering authorities to keep his transcripts sealed to hide the fact he’s lying about his education.
Capable of forging two forms of his birth certificate.
Going to use FEMA camps to round up Republicans.
Going to confiscate guns.
Anti-American.
Going to outlaw Christianity.
Waging a war on Christmas.
Changing the Constitution so he could run for a third term.
A dictator.
Someone who hated white people.
Took his Oath of Office on the Koran.
A socialist/Marxist/communist.
Anti-capitalism.
Faking jobs reports and lying about the unemployment rate.
Using a military exercise to declare martial law to confiscate guns.
Allowing terrorists to come to the United States to kill Americans.
Literally the anti-Christ.
Using the Affordable Care Act to set up death panels to kill Americans.

The list goes on and on — a list filled with nonsense that’s so incredibly ridiculous you’d have to want to hate him to believe any of it.

Yet, it’s all of those lies that conservatives pushed, many before he was even elected, that triggered the “outrage” and “fear” shown by so many Republicans toward him. It was the endless onslaught of propaganda and outright conspiracies that fueled the irrational disdain and hatred so many Republicans have felt toward President Obama for eight years.

But the people who loathe, fear and hate Donald Trump aren’t making this stuff up — they’re quoting him verbatim.

Trump’s critics didn’t make up the fact that he:

Mocked a man with disabilities.
Attacked the parents of a fallen American hero.
Belittled POWs and the war record of Sen. John McCain.
Lied about how much money he raised for veterans.
Called a former Miss Universe “disgusting” and fat, telling his Twitter followers to find her non-existent sex tape.
Accused an American-born federal judge of being unfit to do his job because of his Mexican heritage.
Avoided paying taxes for nearly two decades.
Called most Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals, even though that’s not remotely factual.
Lied about seeing “thousands and thousands” of Muslims celebrating in New Jersey on 9/11.
Lied about getting a letter from the NFL complaining about the debate schedule.
Tried to exploit the death of an African American woman in Chicago to say that’s why black voters will support him.
Found the “bright side” to tragedies because his poll numbers tend to go up.
Settled with the Department of Justice after his company was found guilty of racially discriminating against minorities.
Has cheated on at least one wife.
Was just discovered on video admitting that he not only tried to cheat on his current wife, but he attempted to do so with another married woman.
Had his first wife publicly say that he did nothing when it came to raising their children until they were old enough to talk business.
Tweeted that women should have expected to be sexually assaulted when they mixed males and females together in the military.
Said he wants to target the families of terrorists.
Stated that he wants to ban an entire religion.
Praised a Russian president who obviously hates the U.S. and Americans.
Encouraged the Russian government to commit espionage against Americans.
Insinuated that another Republican’s wife was ugly.
Tried to implicate another Republican’s father in JFK’s assassination.
Sought out the help of former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes after he was fired following multiple allegations that he had sexually harassed women for years.
Made Breitbart’s Steve Bannon one of his top campaign people.
Had a former campaign manager abruptly resign after a report came out linking him to pro-Russian groups that were directly trying to undermine U.S. policy in eastern Europe.
Called Carly Fiornia ugly.
Has said climate change was a hoax created by the Chinese — then denied saying it.
Was a leading conspiracy theorist when it came to the racist-driven birther conspiracies against President Obama.
Dismissed nearly eight years of accusing the president of not being an American with a less than 30 second statement where he didn’t apologize for any of it.
Tried to blame Hillary Clinton for his racism.
Re-tweeted anti-African American propaganda created by a white supremacy group.
Played dumb about knowing who former Grand Wizard of the KKK David Duke was.
Skipped a presidential debate because he was scared of a moderator.
Has, on several occasions, suggested he finds his daughter attractive.
Called a husband doing things like changing diapers and helping with the children, a man “trying to be the wife.”
Has said he wants more countries to have nuclear weapons.
Feels he has the right to sexually assault women.

People fearful and afraid of Trump’s presidency didn’t make all of that up — he said and did all of that.

To say nothing about the fact that a former Grand Wizard of the KKK and your typical Jewish-hating white nationalist said Trump’s victory was “one of the most exciting nights” of his life, calling it a big victory for “his people,” boasting about the role white supremacists played in helping elect him.

We also shouldn’t forget the fact that both Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad have both openly praised Trump’s victory.

Because it’s always good when two serial-murderering dictators, a white supremacist and one of the world’s most famous hate groups are all on the same side in celebrating a presidential victory.

But let me be clear, those are all facts. They’re not subjective opinions, or “left-wing anti-Trump propaganda” — everything I just listed is true. I know many of his supporters will deny some of these things, or bend over backwards to make excuses for others, but none of that changes the reality that it’s all true. Unlike the idiotic gibberish, disinformation and indoctrination the right has pushed about President Obama for the last eight years.

So, please, spare me this outlandish drivel about the outrage and fear being shown and felt by the left right now being similar to what conservatives felt about President Obama in 2008 — because it’s not remotely comparable.

In 2008, the conservative “fear and outrage” concerning Barack Obama was driven by racism, lies, propaganda and conspiracy theories. This election, the fear and outrage many are feeling about Donald Trump is based on nothing more than exactly who he is, exactly what he’s said and done, and exactly who the types of people backing him are.

Speaking of stupid, did anyone catch the first appearance by the new Press Secretary? Even I felt a little bad for the new team. Ouch!

Since we are putting up videos, here's a good one:

That's English at its finest.

But, what d'ya really think about the 2017 presidential inaugural address?

Ok, at one point he talks about our military support for other countries. He said that he will take that money (not specifying from where) and use it to build up our own armed forces. What? I thought he was going to say that he'd use that money at home for other purposes. Who exactly is our military enemy now? Building up the military during peacetime usually indicates a preparation for war or the existence of a cold war.

Anyway, I also liked the power to the people part. Catchy.

Yeah, catchy phrases is how he got to where he is. It is sad, although not unexpected, that this celebrity-obsessed country voted in such an empty bag of hot air. (With some hair)

Btw, he's biting it off the Black Panther motto of the 60s, and even John Lennon :)

Aside from the fact that I took away that he is never really going to make the switch from campaign mode, it was a pretty terrible speech. But, I'm more interested in what he and his people are going to do. Watching Conway this am after the Spicer debacle was probably a sign of things to come: embarrassment after embarrassment followed by Orwellian threats and unconstitutional actions. Did CNN really get blacklisted from the Whitehouse? We truly have entered post-truth America. I'm very worried for our National Parks, the arts, education, etc...

I watched about ten minutes of president twitter's meeting with the CIA and lost a few brain cells.

Anyone else get through it? I thought it was going to be on security but instead it was all about him.

I was trying to find out if this were true, but couldn't find anything on Snopes (easily).

In Case You Missed It
The Senate voted 51 to 48:
1. To end coverage for preexisting conditions, veterans benefits, and aid to rural hospitals.
2. To remove discrimination protection for women in healthcare.
3. Against the provision allowing children to remain on their parent's insurance till the age of 26.
4. To cut off funding for the Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
5. Against ACA contraceptive coverage and maternity care provision.
6. To direct committees to send budget legislation to defund and repeal the Affordable Care Act.

If true, should/will Trump veto these provisions? Did he mention it in his speech? Ok, will it reduce the cost of health care? Will more people be covered? etc., etc.. Otoh, it is nice to have power again.
