Hmm, why was the taxi driver helping looters?
I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a

bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. -- Winston Churchill

That's old.

It is clear that this is what happens when there is no clear direction in an urban war zone.
these guys are soldiers, not policemen and it can't be expected that they would do anything
other than this type of summary action.

Plainly put, under their directives at that time, what they did was a reasonable interpretation of the powers they had given to them by their commanders.
Notice how they feel comfortable doing what they are doing. Even feeling good and justified about it.

Clearly, they were ordained to do so.
The plight of the Iraqis here is irrelevant.
What's lopsided is that these guys felt entitled to be policeman, judge, jury and executioner of the law.
That's where the fundamental breakdown in the chain of command is occurring.
That we allow such lawlessness in our troops is the problem.
Coconuts. Bananas. Mangos. Rice. Beans. Water. It's good.

If that were my car, my first thoughts would be, "If somebody can get me a rocket launcher I'd love to blow up one of these assholes tanks + the assholes." Until we get to the point where general public sentiment is that we are creating more posotive change than negative, shit aint gonna change.

It's horrible, but it's war. These things (and worse) were happening under Alexander the Great, it's like this now, and it will always be like this IMHO. It's human nature, however sad and terrible it may be to look at.

the US did nothing to stop the looting because the guys in charge of the invasion wanted the culture to be wiped away in order for a new culture (walmart! mcdonald's! starbucks! coca cola!) to replace it. the looting of the museums and historic sites was just helping to jet the job done.
