tattoos?

tattoos?

Was wondering if any of you guys are inked. I have to say, not a huge fan of them, but for some reason this

On the back of the neck, small (I have long hair that can cover it) sounds pretty neat. Maybe a little typical, but I've always liked the trigrams/bagua even before starting baguazhang. One of my instructors also has a few, but I've never paid a lot of attention.

Tatoos are now fashionable. Fashisons trend. Uh...the tatoo removal industry will flourish when all you kids realize making a social statement TODAY marks you as global warming granola freaks. FOREVER, unless you can undo it.

Nothing outside the cuff and collar zone, that is my advce, and always choose your tatoo when sober.

What does "semper paratus" mean, anyway?
I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

Very good advice. I sit on anything like this for a few months before going through with it.

I have no tattoos at the moment.

I was going to say get it around your wrist like a bracelet.

But yes, the taint would be a good, if a bit painful spot to get the big eight.

Plus then you can say something like "My taint contains the mighty force of everything under heaven and on the earth!"

Maybe you would even be able to shit fortune cookies....

But seriously, I want to get red hello kitty on one shoulder and blue hello kitty on the other.
I've wanted it since I was like 18, but I honestly don't really think I would like the pain of a tattoo gun too much.

Better be sure you want it, since it will be hard to get rid of it later! (Never understood the whole thing for tattoos myself.)

That said, if you are going to stick the bagua on yerself, keep in mind that there are several standard orders to them (not just one), the most popular two being the pre-heaven one above, and the post-heaven one (qian, kan, gen, zhen, xun, li, kun, dui). Gotta choose which one you want on your body forever!

He should get both.
Pre heaven on his taint, to represent his ancestral qi and post heaven on the top of his head (you'll have to shave it though) to represent the qi of the sky and the world around him....

Sound like a plan? :D

Klonk:

"Semper paratus" = "always prepared" or "ready at all times". 8-)

Is that a post heaven or a pre heaven arrangement or simply obverse and contrary positioning of the hexagrams?
Is your own cosmology represented by that idea?

It's nothing more complicated than

1. I like the design

2. I like what it represents

3. I am a young idiot with virgin flesh wanting to regret everything I did when I was younger

Seems like a good idea to me.

...seriously.

I get what you're stabbing at here but I don't have that much time. How about we just cross out 2 and just have 1 and 3 and roll with that. :D

I think this is far better than my idea to get pre and post on left and right palms at the least, yes?

I personally think that a downward pointing arrow on ones lower abdomen with the simple phrase "suck this" is probably the coolest tattoo one could get.

That and an "exit only" brand above ones butthole is also cool.

:D

Be forewarned, you will be hassled by hippy dippy shitheads who think they know something about the I Ching.
My posts were merely prepping you for this most annoying probability. ;D

I am far from being a person who knows every in and out of the I Ching, but I have read the Wilhem edition quite a few times now... I think I'd still refrain from arguing with people about it.

I'll just claim I have no idea what it is and found it on the internet to annoy them.
