gross pics - does this 3rd degree burn look worse now?

this was last friday - on tuesday of that week the doctor cut off a bunch of cooked flesh and wrapped it up. I was instructed to remove the bandage on Friday and resume using Flamazine. This is the pic when I first undressed it:


this is what it looks like now (3 days later):


am I crazy? Or does it look worse again?

I'm no medic, but common sense tells me that a wound looking like pizza is not the best sign.

why's it black in the first pic?

i don't think it's worse - it's grosser since it's not dry, but it seems like the edges are healing towards the centre. surely it would be better to keep it covered, or your trousers'll aggravate the wounds, and get all messy...

Meeks, did you have a graft done? Why is it patterened in the first pic? WHat are you doing for wound care?

If there is any kind of drainage (puss) then it is infected for sure. Also, if you get any kind of fever, get treatment ASAP.

Tom may very well have hit upon something in comparing it to a Staph infection.
It does indeed resemble that.

I would present that idea to the doctor who cleans it up for you and get yourself something to clear that up so the healing process can continue.

if you're still using the silvadene cream, it can look like that. if it looks like that AFTER you've washed off the silvadene cream, then your doc should culture that wound and get you on the correct treatment for whatever bug is causing that infection.
and you should get a lawyer if you haven't already.

I have an appointment today with the burn specialist - you know, the guy that stuck all the syringes into my burn last week? the first pic is AFTER I removed the dressing, 3 days after he cut off the cooked flesh and plasma. the pattern is from the mesh gauze they put on it after cutting. this is what it looks like (2nd pic) when I remove the bandage, BEFORE I put more Flamazine (silvadene) on it. I'm seeing both a burn specialist (plastic surgeon) and my family doc at the local clinic.
they can't do a skin graft because of the location, although he said it really NEEDS one.
