This is a 'spy' radio that converts into a rifle. I thought it was the greatest thing ever !

kids who had this were sorely disappointed when they found it wouldn't do anything nearly as cool as what it did in the commercial.

I'm glad I never got one then. Strangely, they still make and sell them.

Hey, I had Lincoln Logs, too! Pretty fun stuff - would be good for kids today, too.

I was a huge Transformers nut back then.

Great topic! 8-)

I treasured my toys, and saved my favorites for more than 30 years....only for my own kids to eventually destroy. :'(

Here's a few of my favorites from the 1950's:

pump air rifles, stretch armstrong, gi joes (yes, boys play with dolls too!) captain scarlet for you over the ponders and us canucks, bb guns, toy pistols.

That fastback 500 is sweet! I had a Raleigh Glider and yearned for a fastback badly.

Unfortunately, my parents did not concur with my boyish desires and opted for a more conservative model.

Luckily, mom's old now, dad's gone and I can have whatever I like! So my zx600 ninja trumps that big time now! lol

During the Transformers boom, me and two friends salivated all over them.

My first friend's parents bought him all of them.
My parents bought me some.
The second friend's parents bought him none.

My first friend and I turned out mostly normal, but the latter friend is now a Transformers maniac, having finally achieved the money and ability to buy the toys that were so long kept from him :D

Other "booms" I had as a kid:

Legos (the bucket was nice)
Voltron (where did the darn lion heads go?!)
Model trains (and later, other plastic models) - chee, what an expensive hobby! (Sorry, mom and dad.) My lichens are probably gross now...
