Childhood Toys

Rum, beer, movies, nice websites, gaming, etc., without interrupting the flow of martial threads.

Same, except we made those ourselves, out of wood or very thick wire (picture not mine):

The wood ones would use very thick rubber bands and have a leather "holder" that would launch small pebbles at very high speeds.

Also made something very similar to this, except with much better elastic bands and shooting bent pieces of 3 mm aluminum wire (as shown above):

I stopped participating in those "war games" after one day I got a nice shiny bright-red V-shaped imprint of one of those wire pieces just a couple of millimeters from my eye...
Ah, the stupid youth. ;D

These Wrist Rocket style slingshots can propel marble sized metal ball bearings with sufficient speed and power to hunt and kill small game, no problem. :o

However, I would only consider them to be toys for older boys. Younger boys will do better with one of these:

Yeah, that last pic is exactly what we played with - add some decorative grooves with the knife and partial encrustation with blue or black electrical insulation tape. ;D

P.S.
Oh wow... I don't mean to derail this, but... Holy crap... LASER-GUIDED slingshots!!

Same here, except we made a version of the top one out of some smaller wire to shoot the 3 mm Vs. But these were forbidden weapons as parents hunted them with extreme prejudice for the reasons you explained above. We also used some PVC tubes to shoot paper cornets at each other. Some of the less scrupulous kids added needles to the cornets. We also made darts out of 4 wooden matches, a needle, a piece of paper (for the fins) and some string (to hold the contraption together).

Fun times! ;D

We used the darts to pretend that we were ninjas or secret agents and practiced mostly on inanimate targets. Only once some dude got me with one in the leg but I got the fucker back.

We hurt each other more often with pins on chairs.
