Be sure to keep a suitable receptacle handy in which to knock the ash off of the moxa 'cigar' after each application of heat. Otherwise, the hot ash may accidentally fall off onto the patient's skin when it gets too long, or when the 'cigar' tip is reapplied to the needle. These occurrences don't normally cause a burn to the skin, but are definitely an unpleasantly hot surprise that patients won't like.
