RIP Chris Cornell

I've been based in Seattle since the mid-1980s. When I first got here, grunge was taking off in the local rock clubs. Chris Cornell was a major mover and creator, first with Soundgarden, then with Audioslave and Temple of the Dog. He hung himself early this morning in Detroit while on tour with Soundgarden. Requiescat in pace.

Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterward.

On a cobweb afternoon
In a room full of emptiness
By a freeway I confess
I was lost in the pages
Of a book full of death
Reading how we'll die alone
And if we're good, we'll lay to rest
Anywhere we want to go
In your house I long to be
Room by room patiently
I'll wait for you there
Like a stone
I'll wait for you there
Alone

RIP
