I think that a country's people's teeth are in general shaped by sort of "routine" work that is done in each country, based on the typical thinking of that country. I do notice a certain "national tooth" identity in general.

I think that Japan is also very interested in whiteness, but they have also inherited the weird "pseudo-buck-tooth" thing that people like from America, but upped it a bit, so that quite a bit of buckness is allowed and even preferred here.

(I was fortunate to not have to have braces or whatever, but I did always wonder why my teeth weren't white!)

i think its a bit of a generalisation ... i went through california n nevada a few years ago ... n some of the dudes manning those gas stations and fast food joints had hardly any teeth .... LOL
