The Taiwanese can be friendly on a superficial level, but it is only superficial. My pet hate is 不好意思, the standard apology. It means less than nothing, they simply don't want a scene.
Just your average office worker :p

Surprised Ireland, Denmark and Portugal are not closer to the top. My recent experience of Thailand would put it way down the list, the military are making life there miserable for expats

These popularity contests are bullshit
My whifes ex boyfriend was voted bachelor of the year when we first started going out together
And she left him for me
I think they need a recount
It's just about selling touraism
It's like on here when people vote for the best internal martial artists
It means nothing
Don't put power into the form let it naturally arise from the form

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but having been around a little I could have easily settled in Taiwan.

Have never lived in Taiwan, only visited a couple of times, but having travelled around quite a bit I would say Taiwan is one of the most welcoming, orderly and friendly countries in Asia. Can definitely see why expats would like living there, could see myself living there also in a few years.
