Distant Healing Intention Therapies: An Overview of the Scientific Evidence
Dean Radin, PhD, Marilyn Schlitz, PhD, and Christopher Baur

Abstract
This article provides a broad overview of “distant healing intention” (DHI) therapies, ie, intentional healing modalities claimed to transcend the usual constraints of distance through space or time. We provide a summary of previous reviews and meta-analyses that have explored a diverse array of DHI modalities, outcome measures, and experimental protocols. While some significant experimental effects have been observed, the evidence to date does not yet provide confidence in its clinical efficacy. The purported “nonlocal” nature of DHI raises significant methodological and theoretical challenges. We recommend several avenues for improving future research.

I've met a few people into this over the years and been on the receiving end twice.

Both times it was pretty effective and noticeable. Although like all things involving energy work the big determining factor was the strength of the practitioner.

I do wonder to what degree this kind of practice is palative versus curative.

Utterly ridiculous and quite impossible - nothing but the old placebo effect.

Ron,

Shouldn't you be in the weight room instead of harassing innocent New Agers?

I've heard Mantak chia say that this modality of treatment does work and I wouldn't bet against him. It is an interesting form of treatment but I'm wondering what form the medium would have to be in order to establish such an interaction between healer and patient.
For example does one need something as tangible as a picture of the patient or would something as intangible suffice such as someone merely making mention of the patient and his/her illness from a third party that is known to the patient; maybe even a hair or some other object from the patient or a piece of skin perhaps?

A picture or photo of the patient is probably not required as Im guessing this DHI was going on way before the 'global village' we now live in and how past healers in the east went about this.

One treatment was from a long term teacher.

The other took place after a five minute telephone conversation with a practitioner I never met in person.

So based off of experience, I would say a telephone conversation is sufficient.

I have experienced it from two practitioners who have a substantial history of successful treatments. In both cases they had treated the recipient previously. Their methods were a little different, one 'saw' the energy body and treated it, the other just sent energy to the person. They told the recipient approximately when the energy would be transmitted. The above would appear to lend itself to placebo effect. A lot more research is needed, some was done by legitimate physicists in China, I am checking those results. There has been speculation that it is linked to the 'spooky action at a distance' since it seems non distance related

Wot? Really Wayne? You mean this topic is crap?

That's fine if that's your take, like Ron's, but it is quite different than mine.

Gosh, when you put it that way, it sounds like one of those TV evangelical scam artists. However, that doesn't apply to everyone.

Hey, for once we agree.

Explaining how shit works is a lot more difficult than insisting upon an existing, limited perspective.

The skill to do something does not equal the skill to explain a very complicated thing that you can do.

Better to be in the weight room, then it is to be in the waiting room. if you get my drift.

How do you imagine the totality of our reality, willie? As some tangible, five sense only reality where what you see is what you get? Something that simple appeal to you?
