I don't think Planet of the Apes can handle the zombie apocalypse or Skynet, though.

First, I'm really interested to see what they think is ethical to do with and to these clones. We know they'll experiment on the originals. Remember we were talking about meeting aliens or intelligent life? Well, if we found monkeys on Mars, would we consider them intelligent?

The other, natural, question is who will be the first human clone. Will the same rules apply? Could some rich person have a clone made for spare organ parts?

I agree that genetic manipulation might be necessary for long term human space travel. However, we already know that living in space alters dna. See the "Twin study."

I think human-animal hybrids are a product of human imagination. But, it's certainly possible that dna was once alien to the planet. Otoh, dna is specific to all living things, not humans. And human dna is nowhere near the most complex. There is a flower that is 50 times more complex.

Still, nothing to do with aliens or "alien" life forms. Any alien life form will either be based on dna or not. Human manipulation of genes --to create clones-- goes back at least to the early 90s.

There are human beings who are naturally chimeric, and have more than one set of dna.

Afa human/animal chimera, everything depends on exactly what someone means. Creating human embryos by combining human and animal dna is interesting. However, creating them to harvest organs --aopt stem cells-- adds another level of controversy, but is a different ethical issue.

For ex., if it becomes to grow a human organ inside of an animal --such as a pig, it wouldn't be unethical to harvest that organ. Otoh, suppose a pig could be used as a surrogate for a human embryo, would it be ethical to harvest the embryonic organs?
