'Incel' sexual frustration 'rebellion' at center of Toronto attack

The 25-year-old man accused of mowing down pedestrians in Toronto with a van, killing 10 people and injuring 15 more, reportedly warned of an “Incel Rebellion” on Facebook before the attack.

A spokesperson for the social media company confirmed suspect Alek Minassian’spost that praised mass killer Elliot Rodger to The Globe and Mail. Rodger was a 22-year-old man who killed six people in a 2014 vehicle and shooting rampage in California before killing himself. Rodger left behind a manifesto, in which he reportedly called himself an “incel” and decried women for not dating him.

The term “incel” means “involuntarily celibate.” It existed as a Reddit message board for some time until it was banned for encouraging violence, including rape against women.

I remember some older attacks had a similar theme.

Sexual frustration -> violence?

I can't figure out what is it with some men thinking they are somehow entitled to have sex. Most us have lived through dry spells what makes some think they are justified in voilence?

Some men just can't deal with it.

Then again, some people steal because they think they deserve or are entitled to whatever it is they're stealing.

Crimes usually happen due to the combination of:
1. Ability (weapons, hierarchy, opportunity, etc.)
2. Desire (sex, money, love, power, etc.)
3. Justification ("I deserve it, it's right, it's divine, etc.")

(Less often, it can be only #1 or only #1 and #2.)

One way to try and prevent this kind of thing would be to mitigate #2 in this case.
Might legal prostitution, dating assistance, media restrictions (on TV, it seems like sex is all people do), etc. help?

Bonobos have a uber-matriarchal society, so the guys have to just grin and bear it - or the females swoop down on them and beat them up (chewing their man-parts off, etc.). On the other hand, their society is kind of uber-sexual, too, where greetings involve things like "penis-fencing," etc.
