Slapping contest in Russia

Stumbled upon this on Youtube and thought it was quite silly and dangerous. :o :-\

Know a couple of people who lost their hearing after getting smacked hard in the face.

Wonder about their rules for a "slap". They all seem to use isolated arm power...

I like palm techniques since I broke a knuckle punching. Stork Spreads Wings is a nice taiji slapping move.

Are they not allowed to use the palm heel? Looks like most were slapping w/ the fingers.

There is a rough town called Stockton that has the Stockton Slap. They start fights with a slap because if you do nothing you lose and of course when you do react the slapper can anticipate your move.

I would actually prefer to slap someone over anything else since basic "swings" make it very easy to generate power. I used to slap a steel baskbetball post and get a lot out of it.

I noticed a lot of these KO's happen on video when the slap hits a pressure point at the end of the jaw line. "G" in this image.

Agreed. This is what makes me a bit puzzled. No one use their whole body or waist or even shoulder to generate power. It seems like only the isolated arm is allowed to move? Seems hard to make enough power for a KO. What's the point with a slapping contest if you are not allowed to give a proper slap? :-\

Good chart. That's what they all are aiming for. Or maybe as I recall, they aim lower. But still try to hit that exact spot?

Does that slap have anything to do with the "gentlemanly" glove-slap that indicated a duel was wanted, or is it just a thug thing to show dominance ?

Funny you should ask. It seems that there is a bit of psychology behind it.

First is a highlight video and the second is an interview with Nate.

Interesting, I hear the Germans have a bunch of expressions for slapping people in the face. Never occured to me how much getting slapped can break someone mentally in a fight.
