LSD?

No man.

They got better because George Martin was their producer and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was their guru and they became meditators which in turn exposed them to the reality they belonged to. When you know which reality you belong to, you can flourish within it!

well, there were mushrooms and gianormous amounts of weed consumption as well.

Drugs aren't so much the doors as they are the keys though. The doors pre-exist within the mind, the keys can be used to unlock all or none, depending if you have a key in hand and you know it's a key. :)

I think there are many who have now.
Probably more "aware" people now than the ergot fungus awakenings of the 1400's. :D

I have this theory that all of the best bands of the sixties had an album that was their acid trip album and they are mostly like the best album of all of those bands.

Like The Who "Sell out" or The Rolling Stones "Their Satanic Majesties request" or whatever.

Thanks for reminding me about Magical Mystery Tour. It's one of those albums I burned out on a long time ago and was pleased to find that I'm no longer burnt out on it.

Best,
