i have a pirated dvd or two with english subtitles that were clearly translated by someone with a tenuous (at best) grasp of english.
what makes them so special is that the movies are also dubbed in english. needless to say, the subtitles and the spoken words are a bit dissonant.

I was in the movie "Cinderella man".

I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy so i could egotistically freeze frame the few moments where I was on the set.
I rushed to my favorite "chinese piracy and million pieces of shit" store to get a copy.

the cover was translated as "comderella man"

It was as if they weren't even really trying.

:D

It is a bit baffling how badly they copy roman characters since they use them all the time for pinyin. I've never really figured that one out.

It's worthy of note that "o" is next to "i" and "n" is next to "m" on a qwerty keyboard.

coulda been a typo, but shit, after a few hundred prints you would think that someone would notice

I guess that's the main thing, you can't read the English to realize mistakes.

they may have noticed and not cared / "not wanted to waste perfectly good discs" that already cost them money.
