Our best have been backpack, tent, some private woods or forest, minimal distractions. We usually ration digital access to specific times, and try to keep even that to a minimum.

My ideal would be something like Pema Osel Ling with something like Boxabl or Orca tiny homes on it. Not much in the way of accommodations other than delicious food, beautiful landscape, and plenty of iconography. Honestly, Menla sounds nice.

if it's a dream, may as well dream of stunning, breathtaking architecture, too.

the nature and the space take your breath away so you better get to work on that qi again.

Simple architecture, humble woods. A training hall surrounded by private cabins, common showers, connected by boardwalk covered in creeping vine canopy, common kitchen and dining area fit to serve 20-50, pool and sauna, campfire space, primitive trail out to a primitive group campsite out in the deep woods near the fishing hole, labyrinth trail in the woods for meditative hiking.

Chickens, goats, sheep, community garden out front.

Totally doable, gimme 5 years.

A river canoe or kayak trip. Paddle in the morning, train during the day, fish in the afternoon/early evening for dinner. Sleep under the stars. Bigfoot sightings are a plus.

One of the better place where there was an impromptu retreat was Vancouver, BC.
SImple, pristine, sometimes watching the whales when possible and no distractions. This was about 20 years ago
and the cost was minimal!

I just packing my instruments (didn`t have time to play anyway) after four months of work with construction/rebuilding my own retreat place. On the end, due to my wife, I got internet via satellite :).
I`ve been thinking, that it is quite remote area from the "civilisation noises"
but
it came out, that not so much.
I suppose, that founding the real hermitage is quite hard in our time, particularly in Europe unless you go somewhere close to a polar circle...
so
Wayne gets the point :)
