2023 Rugby World Cup Underway

The French hosts just beat the New Zealand All Blacks in the opening match of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. #1 ranked Ireland takes on Romania tomorrow. If the first match is any indication this promises to be one of the most competitive and entertaining World Cups. That being said it will be hard to beat South Africa defeating New Zealand and the legendary Jonah Lomu in post-apartheid South Africa in 1995.

Lomu had four tries in the semi-finals vs. England in 1995 and was a one-man wrecking crew after only having two All Black caps prior to the start of the World Cup.

Ireland 13-8 South Africa in the biggest match-up since the France vs. New Zealand opener. Both defenses were impenetrable today. Ireland won the war of attrition, helped by three SA missed penalty kicks.

The Ireland/SA match was lost on the boots of the SA kickers... but a very exciting match. We are all saying that the winner of the tournament will play England in the final as the one side of the bracket is far stronger... Though who it will be... France without their captain, SA or Ireland are all strong.
