1. Billionaires and their pet lawmakers get brain chips
2. They all suffer irreparable neurological damage
3. Congress finally delivers this vaporwar (WWIII) they've been teasing for decades.
4. PROFIT!

China, developing the same type of technology. The differences of approach is interesting.
The US favoring in embedded chips.
The Chinese approach using some type of device a person would wear.

Although it is not clear exactly how the device will be worn, most brain–computer interface devices are worn on the outside of the body, rather than being embedded directly into the user's brain.

Used for interfacing with robotic arms, legs...for those injured requiring them...among other things
Or controlling smart phones, TVs, other devices ..

age of the pisces to be bygone(for now)in the aeon humans have been swimming here and there like fish in the sea of knowledge.
now finally are we entering the next age, aquarius, the water carrier, we no longer need swimming and fetch in knowledge, we get it without effort pumped right in to our brains.

"Elon Musk shows off updates to his brain chips and says he’s going to install one in himself when they are ready"

Funny use of words. "Install" in a brain, have humans become machines?

Could be, it might be that our universe is a 3-D printed AI simulation of a previous universe, and we(musk ?) as it was done previously enhances us to be able to continue the so far ongoing creation process….

Our bodies are kind of machines harboring the eternal soul to have an physical experience . Chipping us will cut of the soul from the true divine in the Evil one’s attempt to take the place of the true divine.

There are a couple of more theories…

By the way, Elon mean - oak-tree….and your undertext mentions such vegetation…hmmm

And El mean God……hmmmm again

Seems like the main argument is similar to those getting LASIK versus wearing corrective glasses.
LASIK, not something that can be corrected easily if at all, should something go wrong.
One can always get new glasses..

Not a fan of embedding anything in the body..something wearable like glasses might be ok...

The concept of direct interface mainly aimed at those with spinal injuries, or needing robotic assist devices for loss of limbs, or other types of physical problems giving them direct control over the devices they rely on...

Stephen Hawkins comes to mind...

if the technology works well for those with disabillities, even extra ordinary well, it will be offered to anyone regular guy interested or perhaps pushed on the population in a way that it is the best for our health somehow.
people are already chipped, not in the head but in the hand or arm for now just for practical things as the coffebrewer start by it self when you arrive to work, sweden is in forefront of such.
chipping will be easy i think with all the hipsters swinging around pierced and tattooed here and there just for fun...

- chip in the brain anyone ?

- hell yes, awesome !

MIT institute in collaboration with Gates foundation has been working on chip implants that keep record of ones state of health and medication such as vaccination.

And our beloved pets have in parts of the world been chipped for ages by now, just to keep track of them.

What would be interesting is to keep track of signs of beginning cancer, diabetes, early dementia and similar. If you can track changes and catch deceases when they start or even stop them develop, that would certainly be an advantage.

But soon you will have a chip that can connect and control your nervous system, so the deep state can directly control your brain and body functions, thoughts and actions. ;D

Actually, we already have these implants and we are in fact already controlled remotely, we are just programmed to not know about their existence. :D

The conspiracy theories are rising...

They have toilets that can track most of that stuff, and I think like IV blood sugar monitors for severe diabetes cases.

People got so dumb about the vaccinations, the paranoia would be funny if it wasn't so damaging

The movie Hard wired covered the concerns posted

Hard wired ---Cuba Gooding Jr. and Val Kilmer star in this explosive futuristic thriller, it's a race against time as a man becomes the unwitting target of a dangerous corporation hell-bent on controlling mankind through mind manipulation. © 2009 Hard Wired US Productions, LLC. control

One might look at cell phones / social media /in much the same way as being able to influence indirectly what people do...

Thought the "benfits" of the Technology might enable those with injuries or congenital defects to live a more full and productive life. Have worked with special needs children having "Cerebral palsy" among other things, ...from birth trapped in bodies they can not control....it's very sad....

some kind of early warning or prevention system for heart attacks or strokes or other severe incidents will probably help a lot (if this isn't already happening)

Sure, some great potential benefits, and some possibly horrible results. It's just connecting a brain directly to a computer or robotic device. Imagine all the great things that could be done. And, we could hook up to AI. Alexa ...
