LOS ANGELES (May 25) - Dick Martin, the zany half of the U.S. comedy team whose "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In" took television by storm in the 1960s, making stars of Goldie Hawn and Lily Tomlin and creating such national catch-phrases as "Sock it to me!" has died. He was 86.

I always watched Laugh-In, but I was too young to get half of it. The first time I heard the "goodnight Dick" joke I think I was in bed before I got it and then laughed all night.

Dan was the straight man. Dick was the goof. Kind of like the Smothers Brothers where Tom Smothers got to be the goofy punchline giver to his brother (Dick Smothers). Maybe you got your Dicks mixed up.
