MSN spam?

Hey guys, lately I received a lot of spam through yahoo messenger and now MSN Messenger. From yahoo, I get people who I don't know trying to contact me, that is easy to ignore. But MSN almost got me once: it comes from contacts on my list and that particular message pointed to a picture. I tried opening it, but I quickly closed the browser when I noticed that it was working with no pic on the screen yet.
Does anyone know what is going on? Some kind of worm or did spammers manage to break into people's accounts? Either way, it should be illegal.

i get spam thru my friends account sometimes; i think their computer is infected
... and MSN isnt working so well latey - some contacts are listed as online but when msg are sent it bounces back

I get spam links sometimes from friends' accounts at MSN messenger. Then i told them to change their password. I haven't got spam from them after they changed their passwords.
I think that when you get some spam link and you click it your account get infected and then your account sends spam to your friends. This happened few times with my girlfriend, and everytime problem seemed to solve when she changed her password.

this is the price we all pay when people surf porn and act on those nigerian fraud emails.



look at the subject line, if it's suspect, don't bother.
This problem will not go away and it is illegal, but it is jurisdictional so you can't prosecute a chinese spammer from Canada and so on.
It won't go away until greed goes away, so...don't hold your breath! lol
