We actually had a Canadian learjet hit an elk and kill it during takeoff. The elk had wandered onto our runway from a nearby field, and the plane clipped it with its front wheels on the way up. I was on watch that morning, and happened to glance over at the CCTV screen and see this big fireball streaking down the runway. Next thing I know all the local reporters were there, and everyone was joking about how we had defeated "Elk Qaida". ;D

Damn Canadians.. come here, kill our animals and leave. lol

ouch - sucks to be that elk. and that pilot. but if the plane went down in flames, wouldn't the elk be more of a suicide bomber? Or was it the elk being dragged down the runway erupting into a ball of flames..?

Yup, that's pretty much how it went down. Suffice it to say that when we pulled the radio out of that plane, it looked like a big lump of charcoal. It was gnarly... :P

It's "eh" not "ay" dammit!

lol

btw and fwiw, "eh" is directly connected to Canada's profound Scottishness.

Canada was originally filled with natives, a few french and a lot of scotsmen.

the "eh" was typical of Scottish speech patterns and just stuck.

Parts of Canada are more Scottish than Scotland to this day. Och Aye!

I can't speak to the origins, but pronounciation & usage always seemed more similar to the Channel Islands.

But I ask you, is there really much difference between Fonzie and a Scotsman who celebrates Thanksgiving 6 weeks early? Didn't think so. ;)

Not at all like the white tail jumpers we have up here. Who by the way would come at you as a team and one would hold you with his antlers while the other pissed on your shoes. ;D

Those are black tailed deer and iirc they are the smallest member of the north american deers. When I last visited washington state I saw quite a few of these animals. They seem to be pretty comfy around people.

The deer were attracted to Omar's huge chi-ness but were led into nothingness and had to void.
