I like the current one, with the eyes and the red x. It's low tech.

I don't really like the current design, to tell the truth - it is also bad for perusing in work environments...

I dunno... I think moving avatars (like SOME people here have :P) probably attract (along with TNT and YouTube embeds) more attention than the banner, but that's just me.

Agreed re. DDV though... Perhaps the term "labor of love" took too literal a meaning for him lately. ;D

Well - to be fair, many work-related boards funky avatars, so I would say that the banner is more important here...

The old art was subtle, the colors matched the site (i.e. the picture didn't stand out), and it was also hard to see from far away :D

You can use the Adblock Plus plugin for Firefox to hide any picture you please. I use it to block any of you with an animated avatar (as soon as I saw Nianfong's spinning blanka I knew that had to go ;)) You could also use it to block the banner. At my place constant browsing is almost expected so no prob...

Oh and I use Flashblock to hide the Flash plugins until I explicitly click on them.

Sounds like it's time for a favorite Firefox add-ons thread.
