I bet if the city confiscates that and sells it at auction they'd get way more than 360 dollars.

So, you all went and voted for candidates who promised more power for YOU over your neighbors. How's that all workin' out for you, anyway? Wait, you didn't know it applied to YOU?

Everything is a law court matter these days. I say the artist replaces the barrel he cut up.
I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

I think the construction company should thank him for the art, drop the charges and use the art to advertise their company.

Agreed Darth.
But in reality the company does need to make a statement so others dont do the same in the future with their property - pretty cool though...

You can't buy publicity like this, and if they strike while the iron is hot, they get a mascot that can get some recognition in the area they serve.

But yeah, I don't agree with defacing private property at the expense of someone else in the name of art or anything.

it's private property. Buy your own shit man! Or go find it in a creek bad and clean it up. Or whatever, just use your own shit.

<<Hamlin Associates, the construction company whose barrels were turned into a monster, doesn't want to press charges.
"We've had a fair amount of vandalism, but never anyone turn it into art," President Steven Hussey said. "I actually thought it was pretty neat."
Hussey said the value of the publicity his company has received is well above the $365 cost of the traffic barrels that Carnevale used.
"It's been positive publicity for us," he said. "If we'd known he'd do that good of a work, we'd have given him the barrels."
Carnevale said he's weighing Hussey's offer to reconstruct the monster for the company's offices in Climax, N.C., possibly for pay. Meanwhile, at least three Facebook support groups have formed to support Carnevale, including "Don't Charge Joseph Carnevale," boasting more than 800 members.
Police spokeswoman Laura Hourigan said the charges won't be dropped, despite the company's stance.
"The police department obviously has a job to do," she said. "And if someone is going to destroy property, we're going to take care of that situation."
Hourigan said police are speaking with the District Attorney's office to investigate other street art by Carnevale, though she would not discuss details. Hourigan said Carnevale's Web site displayed photos of destroyed property.>>

As stated above, it's not really about the construction company at this point. Just because you're artistic and progressive and shit doesn't mean you don't have to respect the rights of others as given by the law. The mere fact that he happened to create something cool doesn't change the fact that he's a thief and a vandal.

The fact that the company doesn't want to press charges is all that matters in this situation. If they wanted to, they'd be well within their rights to do so no matter what anyone else thought. They don't, matter dropped.
