Hmmm...
"Salem's Lot" (vampires)
"Jaws" (sharks)
"Poltergeist" (pissed-off spirits)
The book "Amityville Horror" (more pissed-off spirits, and MUCH scarier than the movie)
"Fool, the Devil drives!"

Jaws

After seeing Jaws, I would freek out every time I saw a clump of seaweed float my way while scuba diving.

+1, and I never even saw the movie. The commercials alone plus the descriptions of the movie from other people alone gave me nightmares.

Also, Freddy Kruger was a scary motherf'er.

To this day, "Jaws" is still one of the scariest movies ever for me...

Reagan. And I'm not talking about the Exorcist.

I saw that in the movies when I was a kid. My mother took me. I had nightmares for a month. Just today I ordered it on DVD to see if it's still as scary.

A couple of movies that freaked me out as kid, but which just looked really dated when I watched them as an adult were the original "Friday The 13th" and a made-for-TV movie titled "Manitou". I still think that "Phantasm" is pretty freaky though....

Friday the 13th, part 2 had a student of Kenny Gong in it. Stu Charno played a small role in it.

British tv series: "Survivors" - series 3, episode 4 where one of the people gets rabies and attacks the others.
