That said, the Democrats have done a particularly crappy job of selling whatever plan they still haven't decided on.

So maybe we could let them decide on it, then let them sell it, then decide if we want it.

It's like someone said the words "health care reform" and people immediately lost their damn minds.

yeah seriously. so what if it's socialism? the whole rest of the so called "democratic" world has universal health care. including "third-world" nations like taiwan.
we could do worse than follow the UK's example.

My own opposition to the alleged plan is based in the U.S. bureaucracy's proven ability to screw up everything it touches, including its current involvements in health care.
I define internal martial art as unusual muscle recruitment and leave it at that. If my definition is incomplete, at least it is correct so far as it goes.

I think as long as the Republicans (that includes you Michael.. ;) ) continue to drop tiny word bombs like 'death panel' and communism the misinformed will continue to picket the town hall meetings against health care. Honestly, who the f*** doesn't want readily available health-care provided to them? I've never heard of anyone saying anything good about having to deal with HMO's and Insurance companies in the USA and whenever the Democrats try to take things a step in the direction TO HELP YOU, people jump on the Republican party's negative-spin campaign wagons as if they're LOSING something.

As for quality of health care, it's not because you guys have to pay (for example) a couple of thousand bucks to give birth to your children (free in Canada and UK and Cuba...) it's because there's 10 times the population and lots of large investment in technology companies in the USA compared to Canada.

Did you know in Canada the parents get 1 year maternity leave from work, paid for by the govt, at about 65% of your wages? And that by law your job is guaranteed when you return? we can do 1 year for 1 parent, or split it 6 months each parent, or 3/9, or 5/4 ....
Some of my American friends were only given 3 weeks UNPAID leave and then either had to return to work or lose their jobs.

We all think the system needs fixing. We just don't think what Obama is talking about is the way to do it.

Meeks,
Honestly who cares what you think? You can't vote here. So Shut the fuck up. You're opinion just doesn't matter with our politics. Ever wonder why your country's politics aren't a big deal here? Because it doesn't matter. That's the long and short of it.
How about you guys comment on your country's politics more. Then it might be interesting and we could all discuss it. I might be interested....or not. But that won't happen. It won't. Prove me wrong and then we'll see if anyone cares. I already know how this one will end. No one will care about it and it will end will your rant against me or the Conservative wing of American politics.

I see Buddy is the same "ugly american" as ever.

lol.

Listen Buddy, we'll stop talking about when when it get's stopped talking about.
Also, when Canada is being used, and incorrectly at that, as an example of socialized healthcare, that opens the door to any
canadian on any forum like this to say whatever the fuck they like about it.

So, don't be a fucktard Buddy. It's a tiresome act.

The irony of Republicans throwing around words like 'socialism" and "communism" is that it shows how old their party is. People under 40 don't give a damn about those buzz words, because they mostly only hold any scare meaning to Baby Boomers and their parents. The Cold War is over people, and contrary to the opinion of the dying and the retiring... you can find good things in flawed ideologies like socialism/communism or anything else and there's no reason NOT to use those good things. I never met a Canadian that couldn't go to the doctor for a routine check up because he couldn't spare the money to do it.

I gotta say - the rest of the world just looks at the US healthcare system and says softly to themselves

"wtf? oh well, they will have their way, lest the 'commies' take over"

You guys have the worst system ever - and plenty of other places have universal healthcare without falling apart.
