Living to 100 without Taijiquan

I would love to. But once you hit 100 I'll only be 69 ;) So I won't be able to celebrate my century mark with you, haha.

and PS
speaking of longevity:
eat well and
NOT TO MUCH
in fact you have to be hungry little bit all the time
its only proven /scientifically/ way to live longer and more healthly than average joe

and as old TJ master say-
exercises allone aren`t sufficient
-calm shen - is what really counts

calorie restriction in humans and other animals has been positively shown to increase longevity.

eating too much burns out your innards from working to process it all.

I agree with this, although I do not really practice caloric restriction myself.

It is definitley a way to increase your lifespan though.
Coconuts. Bananas. Mangos. Rice. Beans. Water. It's good.

Nat Geo did a very good article on long lifers a few years back. IIRC, they looked at centenarians in Okinawa, Italy and several other places.

They were:
From 'undeveloped' (but not poverty-struck) agricultural societies
All had large families
All remained physically active, regardless of age
All lived in the countryside, not the city
All ate well (yes, including meat) but moderately
All drank booze - but moderately
All had what the French call 'joie de vivre"

None of them were wealthy or professionally prominent/successful.
IIRC, none of them did any formal physical exercise, but all walked around (ie were physically active)

So if you want to live well and long:
Move out of the city
Dont focus on job
Dont focus on money
Be around people you like or love
Eat fresh food
Do everything - eating, drinking, exercise - in moderation.
Be happy

Presumably,Taiji comes into the equation as a phys exercise that can be done with ease, anywhere, anytime - moderately.

Being well-rounded and being moderate in one's habits seems to be the key.
