How Far Will Kimbo Go?

Postby Steve James on Thu Sep 17, 2009 3:13 pm

I watched last night's UFC, and I wondered about the attitudes that the others had about him. Whatever happens, he'll get loads of training and exerience that he might not have had. I hate to underestimate someone to the point where I think he/she cna't learn. He's not well rounded now, but neither were many of the Ultimate Fighter contestants.

It's also interesting to see how Dana's recruiting HUGE guys, some from other sports. I'm sure that's to build up competition and hype for the Lesnar. At any rate, it promises to be a hoot.

ufc will degrade to nfl scraps eventually at the rate it's going.

just a bunch of huge guys wailing away on each other.

The heavy weight catagory in the UFC is pretty scarce.

Indeed. He'll make a good B.A. Baracus in the upcoming A-Team movie.

Kimbo has a chance to go far in this season. As we know from previous TUF seasons, the fighters are mostly rank beginners--you saw what happened in the first fight--the guy who lost had no stand up game or ground skills despite saying "my jujitsu is strong". Sure. While there are some people with experience, like the IFL guy, I think Kimbo has a chance at winning some fights at minimum.

Yeah, he got out-aggressed; and didn't have enough skill to defend. Ultimately, imo, they're looking for guys to face Lesnar; and for that, skills will be needed.
