I had the distinct pleasure of spending Thanksgiving this year with my good friends and their family up at their cottage on Georgian Bay at the South end of Lake Huron.
My friend's grandfather who attended with his wife turned 100 years old this year (2009).
It was the first time in my life I had actually met someone who had achieved this great age and I was inspired by the meeting and time spent with him and his wife (who was 95!).
They told us stories from the past that had us smiling like kids at christmas.
They both partook of all the same foods we ate, he drank beer, wine and coffee with us at each meal and while hanging about.
He trounced his grandson and his own son in cribbage quite adeptly (sharp mind).
Both had sharp and clear minds. Neither was disabled except for He had a hearing aid and glasses and used a cane to walk. She used no cane to walk. Both were fully upright in posture and both exercised regularly, ate and drank modestly and didn't rush any aspect of their day to day living tasks.
It really got me to thinking about my own lifespan and my own perspective on life meeting these two remarkable people.
It was she who gave me her spin on what the secret to longevity is though.
"Attitude".
Brilliant! Keep a positive outlook and a good attitude!
Easy as pie right? Right?
Anyway, just wanted to share.
