I highly recommend American Gods, Anansi Boys, and most of all Neverwhere.
Stardust wasn't too bad either, and his short story collections (Fragile Things and Smoke and Mirrors) are both very entertaining.

I also posed for a lot of stuff in the early sandmans over lunch or beers...a hand here, a head there. A lot of the endless poster.
I also got to read all of the early stuff in script form before it came out. Fun, fun, fun.

Posted: Tue Oct 27, 2009 6:13 amLoved Sandman, my company actually published the portuguese version in Portugal, for a few volumes at least, until some major licensing screw up gave the exclusive rights to a brazilian company. The best thing about my job was that we got to pretend we were friends of the authors, and would sit down with them for lunch or coffee in San Diego or Angouleme, or invite them to conventions here.
We ran a convention here in 2003 and Neil Gaiman was guest of honour. He was super nice, it was our first con ever and even though it went well he helped BIG time! He was really cool and nice and easy going, and he got a line of 900 people for autographs! He was promoting Coraline in Portugal at the time.
