PS3 game recommendations

Postby Harvey on Tue Oct 27, 2009 8:15 am

I just scored myself a free PS3 renegotiating my mobile phone contract, RESULT. I know the awesome tekken comes out at the end of the week but what games would you guys recommend to add to my collection of 1 i got ghostbusters free with it, LOL.
my faves on PS2 and PS1 where always the Tekken/Soul Caliburs, all of the Final Fantasy saga and Wipeout (smooth driving and uber-banging choons on the soundtrack)

TIA

RESULT indeed!

I don' have a PS3 so I can comment on what exclusive titles it may have, with the exception of Little Big Planet which by all accounts is supposed to be a good laugh.

However! If anybody out there has a Xbox360/PS3/PC powerful enough, go get your hands on Batman: Arkham Asylum, if you are a Batman fan then you will love it, and if you are a Batman obsesser such as myself then it will pay itself off many times over with stuff only fans will pick up, it's a labour of love by some games company I've never heard if, and between stalking people through the shadows to beating the living bejesus out of a dozen men surrounding you, the game is great, one of the best of the year apparently. But whatever, beating people down in this game is so much fun, I hope someone take the engine and makes a new Streets of Rage out of it, it would be a very straight forward transition for old fans.

The last Resident Evil game was a ton of fun to play. I don't know how many hours my son and I wasted playing that game. ;D

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, The latest Soul Calibur and Street Fighter 4.

Basically when you think of games, think online play. Thats where the PS3 shines.

my short list:
Streetfighter 4
Soul Calibur 4
I've always been a fan of the splinter cell series, so Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. 2 is coming soon as well.
I hear great things about batman: arkham asylum.

cod mw 2 and batman aa look wicked.

tekken 6 looks sick too.

assassins creed 2 looks alright as well.

there are a lot of really nice looking games coming out for christmas.

I'm a diehard pc gamer though. None of the consoles even come close to what you get when you have the bomb for a system.

windows 7, 16 Gig of ddr 3 ram on an I7 duocore rig with a couple of terrabytes hdd and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 packed into the case? fuckin sweet! I can't wait!!! lol

assassin's creed 1 was a huge disappointment. I thought it'd be as good as prince of persia, but it wasn't even close. and was actually kinda dumb and repetitive. I'd need to see some really good reviews to want assassin's creed 2.

Yeah Assassins Creed 1 was repetitive and boring after a time

But AC2 is supposed to be much better, more interactive, larger and more diverse.

COD MW 2 Should be the biggest video game of all time (they predict it will top GTA IV)

Metal Gear Solid 4 is still probably one of my favourite ps3 games.

COD 4 - COD 5
Resistance 1 & 2
Killzone 2

Are all great shooters

Mortal Kombat vs DC
Street Fighter 4
Soul Caliber 4

Are great fighting games.

For a simple fast game you cant go past Crash Commando. Its basically a straight rip off of soldat (for any of you PC gamers who remember this shareware game) but its infinite amounts of fun. i think it only costs about $20 on the PS3 online store.
