Didn't read all of the PDF but it reminds me of Gladwell's book Blink, where the cops shot and killed an unarmed man and just KNEW and SAW him with a gun. He had no gun at all.

I have that book. Loved the part about the test with the list of words that you had to put in order, and the change in mood that it caused
