If I remember right, there is a lot of speculation about this site being the basis for the Eden myth, a beautiful paradise that was suddenly left and buried. I am excited to read more as they continue to excavate it.

Gobekli Tepe was crafted and arranged by prehistoric people who had not yet developed metal tools or even pottery.

Damn...

How can you not have pottery but have art like that?!

Pottery could have been rare. Textiles are way more telling of a technologically advanced civ.
Stones are the least dateable things. Especially worked stone.

when it is in the geo-strata, that's different.
Finished and dressed stones are pretty much impossible to date without provenance.

So, they may well have had pottery but it is gone. They may well have had textiles, but those are gone too.
Then again, they have finished going through the site just yet. :)

(the invention of) pottery also depends on a local abundance of suitable clay.
