The White tiger-Aravind Adiga
Was the best book I read in 2009.
-The White Tiger is the debut novel by Indian author Aravind Adiga. It was first published in 2008 and won the Man Booker Prize for the same year.[1] The novel studies the contrast between India's rise as a modern global economy and the main character, who comes from crushing rural poverty.[2] Other themes touched on include corruption endemic to Indian society and politics, familial loyalty versus independence, religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims, the experience of returning to India after living in America, and the tensions between India and China as Asian superpowers.

Been flirting with it for a while, i have it on my bookshelf. Better or worst than Rushdie's Midnight's Children?

Nothing like Rushdie AFAIK. Booker Prize winners are usually relativly easy, relativly fast moving books, from my experience. The White Tiger is a great book I recommended it to my friend and he tore through it. He liked it too. I highly highly recommend 'Disgrace' which won the booker prize a few years ago, that may well be the best book i've ever read, heavy shit mang.

Rushdie and Disgrace are now on my list. I'm leaving for a trip to China in a couple weeks, lots of plane, train and bus rides in my future to enjoy them.
