Swiss made titanium and space-age ceramic are often suggested for younger patients who want maximum life-span for the replacement and less chance of breakage/failure while being moderately active.

Oral Supplements can be useful for mild cases but do nothing once you have destroyed the bone through severe osteoarthritis.

after surgery: get moving ASAP! there will be certain movements that you should not do to prevent dislocating the new hip, but the sooner you get up on your feet and start walking, the quicker you'll be back to your daily activities.

Good luck buddy, my father just had a hip replaced at 50 and he is doing great. He wishes he had done it sooner now. As someone already said get up and moving to heal quickly.

Good luck Buddy. Do you mind saying where you are getting it done/who by? There are definitely some bad surgeons out there and outdated techniques so make sure to "shop around." You might want to look into having the minimally invasive procedure done, the recovery is much quicker and less cutting usually = better.
