1.) the maintenance of check while shifting and striking is near impossible to achieve in real time.

2.) strikes do not hang in the air to be checked, they come and go with equal speed.

Well actually, I have done this app in real time (sparring, with gloves and all ). Ok, movement needs to be more compact than in the demo, and the check isn't really a check but an uproot. If he pulls back before that, great, follow him home and use the "brush knee" bit to clear his guard (actually something the glasses thing in the video illustrates somewhat )while you clobber him with the palm strike.
