Okay, this is at least the second time you've given up on Facebook. Just saying.

That's reason enough for me to not participate with Facebook. More philosophically, I've seen people become somewhat obsessed with constantly posting what they are doing, how they are feeling, and so on, to the point to where it becomes a life lived online and real life becoming somewhat secondary. It's not very manly to say the least, as it, at least to me, has a feminine energy to it all (the constant question of "and how am I feeling right now" (which can only be rationally answered by "Who The Fuck Cares") is a feminine priority). Along with that, I don't like the idea of being CONDITIONED to the idea of feeling like you HAVE TO be telling people about your every move.

In the "what are you reading" thread, I've noted two good books on the impact of the internet on social behavior and the cult of celebrity and spectacle. Get to the library and check them out!

i find it useful for keeping in touch with interstate and international friends, as well as sharing photos. dont take part much in the whole constantly updating what you are doing thing. usually only change my status a few times a year. I recently went through and deleted all the useless contacts that were filling my home page up with crap. You know, the dude from primary school that you rarely spoke to then that added you just so he could have a higher friend count...yeah there were far too many of them haha.

Whenever I begin to think my life is boring, dull, etc. I just check out what other people think is interesting on Facebook.

Then I go back to wanting to shoot them instead of myself. Metaphorically speaking.

lol if you're really, really, really bored you could do all this here:

- change your picture to a celebrity you don't really resemble
- look up your name in urban dictionary
- post some song that was #1 on your birthday
- make some weird note of 25 things

OTT is a lot better than that though.

Thank God for that - his status updates were terrible...

Being the self marketing madman I am, I use everything at my disposal to get information out there about my style, seminars, products, and upcoming events.

I use it for marketing.

I leave my status alone usually.

Until I want to announce something.

I don't begrudge its use by anyone else.

I'm just pulling back from social networking in general.

That's exactly why I never opened one and also why I'm not here so much...time.

Although when I meet with family and friends I do end up feeling like an atheist in the bible belt.
