Kids need to learn about sex and anatomy, i'm not going to bullshit mine with rainbows and buttercups. Maybe scar them for life by telling them thats the exact position i did it with their mom. Sex isn't gross and the body is nothing to be ashamed of(unless you're a fatty).

Of course, but there's a "when" and there's a "how". I've heard that too-early exposure to explicit imagery of that nature can cause some very serious problems with their own sexuality in the future. (That is aside from just using one's common sense when approaching these matters...) Also, watching porn has nothing at all to do with "learning about sex and anatomy". Porn is for entertainment. Mostly anyway.

^Sure, but that still doesn't mean one should expose children to explicit sexual material. I'd rather my kid see a relatively innocent fist fight on a Batman cartoon than a dude or 3 drilling away on some painted up whore. Graphic violence and graphic sexual material are things I'd prefer to keep my kids from seeing too early, I'm not uncomfortable with my 3 year old seeing Batman punch the Joker in the face or seeing some kissing.

There's a time and a place. Your kid is more likely to get in a fist fight at 6 years old than to make out with a girl(or boy or whatever), which is a big reason why people are far more comfortable with kids being exposed to violence. They're going to need to know what it is and how to deal with it because it's going to happen to them long before sex comes into the picture. Shit, most of us practically come out of the womb fighting. Sex comes later.

However, I agree with violence being more disturbing than sex by any measure. I also heartily agree with Dmitri's sentiments.

I wonder if there's ever been a study to see how kids who were raised in the absence of violent & sexual imagery (yeah - hyper unlikely in most "modern" society) react to such things. I know when I saw actual real violence I was far more disturbed than seeing actual real sex.
