If so I would move to where the economy is better, and find a job there - any job - so that you can get back on your feet.

There's the rub. I have a couple places I could go and get a job...however if I want to continue to be involved in my sons life my ex-wife has basically made it so I have to stay here. It's a huge fucked up catch 22.

My sister that lives here is the manager for an apt building downtown so she's letting me sleep in her storage unit at night. :) :(

Just working on getting a job and trying to make enough money to move into a new place, but it's going to take like a grand.

My ex is making my life difficult right now. I was able to take care of my son yesterday by going over to my folks house and watching him there, but they don't want me living with them and I for my part would rather lose my nutsack than move back in with them at this point. They don't know how to treat me like anything but a 15 year old kid and it's been making me feel like one. I can't do it anymore and thankfully (sort of) they took the option away from me...but if I want to continue participating in my sons life I have to jump through all kinds of crazy hoops for his mother and mine. I wouldn't wish my situation on my worst enemy.

Seeing my son crying this morning because his mom told him he wasn't going to be able to see me on a regular basis until my living situation changed just about broke my heart. He was all clinging on me as I dropped him off for kindergarten.

Anyhoo, I'm just putting my nose to the grindstone and trying to make some miracles happen.

Thanks for all the good energy guys. It's nice to know that people wish me well.

That's how I finished out my last semester of college. An underground storage unit in a condemned building. There was a toilet upstairs I could use and I'd shower using a washcloth and a big sink and that was nearby because the building used to be some sort of ambulance maintenance center. A friend somehow stumbled onto an old ambulance stretcher which I slept on, lol. That and a sleeping bag. It was rough living but it saved the day when I lost my job with another 3 or 4 months of school to go.

Hang tough, Shawn.

Use that moment of heart break to feed into your effort to land work. Keep at it. Stay positive with this all. You got a lot of folks here who are behind you.

I know a few people up in Portland. PM me what kind of work you are looking for. No promises but I will ask around.

I trust you have your resume in at every restaurant within a bus ride from where you're at?
Nows the time to make the big push.
Heck, if I were in your position, I would take a job right away to start building up some monies towards getting a place and getting
my visits back with the kid.

It's too bad it didn't work out with the folks. One's foks are hard to live with when one's a teenager, never mind a full grown adult!
My mother is behaving badly these days and it is frustrating dealing with a 73 year old woman who acts like a 6 years old spoiled brat.

anyway, I digress.

Here's my advice, I've used it myself.

1) don't wallow in the mire

2) run to opportunity, don't wait for it

3) make the necessary sacrifice to get to the goal quickly

Again, good luck man.

Excellent post Darth, good advice. Btw, I can relate to what you said about your mom, I am having similar problems: I just don't understand her behavior anymore.

Shawn

A friend of mine had a similar situation to yours. His wife had an agenda though, that basically ran to "I will mess you around so much eventually you will snap and will no longer be able to get access to your children except under my express conditions backed by a judge in a Court of Law" And the sly so and so got her way. Of course my friend fell for it all the way and ended up with a restraining order. I have n't seen him in a while, but last I checked he was allowed to video conference with his kids and that was it. Even while the video conference was in progress she was telling the kids that daddy did n't love them anymore.

So take care!

The selfishness of some parents just irks me. Any parent who would deprive her/his child of contact with the other parent (providing that parent is not dangerous, of course) is guilty of child abuse, IMO. Kids who have a mother and a father, should have the benefit of bonds and love with both the mother and the father.

Good luck, Shawn, and keep focused on stabilizing your work- and living situation so you can be with your son.
