There is no doubt that what Tim Cartmell does is highly skilled and he can kick major ass.
Tim probably could care less how you categorizes his material, what he does works and is effective.
Joseph T. Oliva Arriola has his own definition of what internal is and he's entitled to his opinions, I did not read any criticism in his post, just a definition debate. I have found his posts over at formosaneijia to be informative.
Conclusion: Tim gets major respect and deservingly so, and this is just another iteration of the whole what is internal debate.

In my case (and others, I guess), the issue is not that Arriola doesn't think Tim is 'Internal' according to his definition of the term. The funny part is when he calls Tim a 'BJJ guy and not much else' (like that's a bad thing ) whose form is "not Taiji or whatever" and that has "Maybe learned the form but nothing else"... when it is clear that Tim Cartmell has excelled at the internal arts he has trained in, and his body deeply expresses the principles found in those arts.

For God's sakes, look at Tim sparring!...his tingjing seems like he's given a script detailing all the opponent's moves before the fight
