Greg, you don't have to physically be somewhere to learn about it. There is something called reporting. Things change very quickly, so even some place that you have been before may be so different a few years later that you're out of date about somethings there.

Facts please Michael with charts, graphics and all.

Terror is killing far fewer people in the UK now than it was in the 1980s

I am sure the murder rate in London is much lower than any major city in Texas.

Tsk, tsk, those were white freedom fighters, not terrorists. ;)

And don't forget that the real danger in Charlottesville were the leftist "Neo-Marxists." ::)

I think Trump is trying to make a case against NATO. It looks to me he wants to get out of it, get out of the G7, and get out of the WTO. He really seems to be against globalization, IMHO.

He specifically makes the case that the US supplies a disproportionate amount of the NATO budget. That is true. However, that goes back to Europe's position post WW2. At one point, the US supplied almost all of the budget. The USSR was a threat. It invaded countries. We were providing assistance to allies because we were simply better prepared and thought it was necessary for our national security. Never forget. Sarah Palin considered Russia a threat to the US that Obama wasn't confronting. She could "see Russia from her house."

According to Trump, the annexation of Crimea, however, is Obama's fault. That way, he doesn't offer any position on it at all. I.e., it's only "bad" because it happened on Obama's watch. Of course, there's been a long thread on Russia and the Ukraine. No matter, though.

Trump might very well be against NATO in principle. I don't think Russia (or N. Korea) are threats to the US in military terms. However, his argument that Russia controls Germany is ludicrous. Even though Germany (and most of the EU) do not produce petroleum, and so much import their oil from foreign sources, the US (which has petroleum production and reserves) still gets most of its petroleum (58%, look it up) from "foreign sources" like Canada, Mexico, and even Nigeria. We could therefore argue that Canada controls the US.

That's probably never going to change because the petroleum companies are international, not national --except where they are nationalized. The oil companies put all the product into a pot and distributes it. Saying it comes from Russia is true, but misleading.

Trump's argument that I heard was that Russia was not a threat to Europe because Russia provides oil. That imo is a specious argument. Russia isn't giving oil away. I think gas and oil are the reasons Russia wants control of Ukrainian resources. It's also why the EU is reluctant to follow Trump's lead on imposing more sanctions on them for using Iranian oil.

Otoh, the EU and Europe, in general, are far ahead afa developing non-petroleum energy sources. Trump is still talking about clean coal. That's why the German newscaster was laughing.

I didn't make any claims, and like Steve said, it's not relevant whether a person has been to London.

It's about the jokes and the memes.

Not joke and not a meme

FWIW 49 Brits died in terrorists attacks between 2010 and 2017.

Let's compare that to Texas.

In Texas, the murder rate bumped up faster than the country, too, with nearly 1,500 murders in 2016 compared to more than 1,300 the year before. The state’s 2016 rate of 5.3 murders per 100,000 matches the national number.

No, you don't have to go London but if you had been to London you would know that is it much safer than any city in China or the United Snakes.

It appears that the Vegas shooter killed as many in a night as terrorists in London in seven years but London is dangerous....?

Greg, in your non sequitur comparing London and other places, it seems you don't understand the point of the meme at any level.

You can get the joke or not, like it or not, but you're not even in the ballpark.
